Research & Teaching
Fertile ground for research and teaching
The Faculty of Engineering Science is involved in the Technology Alliance of Upper Franconia (TAO), which is unique in Germany. It bundles cooperation in teaching, research, and continuing education between the University of Bayreuth, the University of Bamberg, and the universities of applied science in Coburg and Hof, while fostering valuable synergies. This allows us to pursue innovative projects across many different fields, such as energy and mobility with the cross-cutting topics of sensor and information technology, materials science, and human-machine interface. New concentrations are currently under development, for example the topic of health in consideration of the overarching topics bioanalytics, food sciences, and issues relating to water. Bayreuth also links the Centre for Materials Science & Engineering and the Centre for Energy Science & Technology.
World-class practical training
Our students also profit from this cooperation. They are able to get a behind-the-scenes look at current issues in engineering, and they can take advantage of a broad range of labs and tutorials. Small lab groups, personal contact with instructors, and well-equipped laboratories all contribute to an ideal learning environment.
